I strongly believe the Denver Broncos will somehow acquire a second round pick near the 40th pick in the draft. That's the 8th pick of the second round.
I was reading on which NFL prospects the Denver Broncos are visiting with and I found something interesting. From the Denver Post and the Mile High Report, I noticed that the Broncos either have scheduled a visit, or have visited with numbers 33 to 36 of Gil Brandt's top 100 draft prospects on NFL.com.
(From Gil Brandt's top 100)
33. Brandon Weeden, QB, Oklahoma State (56)
34. Kirk Cousins, QB, Michigan State (86)
35. Brock Osweiler, QB, Arizona State (63)
36. Kendall Reyes, DT, Conneticut (33)
This is particularly interesting as these players are the highest concentration of Gil's top 100 that the Broncos have visited with for pre-draft meetings. This could just be a coincidence, or it could be something alluding to their draft strategy, but it's at least something to ponder about. Now, assuming some teams ahead of the 40th pick, draft players for need and overreach (draft a player before they are projected to be drafted), this could push these players into the 40th slot (or even lower....).
If the Broncos do get that extra second round pick, look for them to pick up a QB (Weeden, Cousins, Osweiler). I can't wait to find out!
